NHS 24 have just taken delivery of an information management software application from CC Technology. This application will be used to manage the provision of health information from NHS 24’s three Scottish call centres.
NHS 24 required a web-based tool that would be used to hold, administer and publish the information used by frontline staff in delivering the NHS Helpline service. CC Technology were charged with producing and deploying a solution to meet the functional specification within 5 weeks to meet operational commitments.
Dave Allan of CC Technology comments, "For NHS 24 to provide a service within their operational timescales it was important that the project management, risk management and technical skills had to be strong. NHS 24 clearly understood that the team assembled at CC Technology had the skill and commitment to manage the process and deliver a solution that met their business requirements. Timely development also requires commitment from the client and NHS 24 were exemplary, the specification and availability of skilled staff were strong factors in the project's success."
The solution used Microsoft’s ASP.NET platform. Although it was primarily selected for its accelerated internet applications development capability, it has also simplified the systems management at NHS24 by eliminating traditional software deployment costs.
Using a RAD approach to work with NHS 24 managers at every stage of the project delivered a fully client tested application by the end of the development process and allowed CC Technology to compress 12 weeks of effort into 5 weeks of development time.
John Howard at NHS 24 stated "We went from design on paper to production deployment in 8 weeks - it couldn't have happened without the teamwork and depth of skill that CC Technology brought to the project. Not only has the application met our technical needs but the frontline staff like it too. People are really, really pleased with the new application."
